7/11 – Important indoor RC safety information

By | November 7, 2024

We have a lot of indoor RC flyers, so the safety officer and committee regularly review the indoor flying guidance. In general, we think that indoor RC is pretty safe, if a bit chaotic at times. We think that the guidance on the web site and in particular the timed slots go a long way to achieving this (thanks again to Greg for the amazing timer board he developed).

Could we please ask all indoor RC flyers to review the guidance on the website (it is on every event in the website calendar) and in particular try to follow the 2 highlighted items below (I know I am one of many guilty parties ref these!!).

Stand close to the walls leaving just enough space for people to pass behind you – This gives maximum space for flying. Warn pilots if you have to walk in front of them.

Take special care when retrieving – If you have to cross the hall when others are flying, go round the edge. When getting a model from the middle, keep a good lookout.

The full guidance is also at the link below. We don’t want to have to introduce any ridiculous petty rules that are impossible to enforce so just ask everyone to try their best!!
