This is our special Friday evening session where Free Flight, Control Line and Radio flying all co-exist on the same field where we have been flying since 1946. The field is booked from 6pm but most people arrive around 7pm unless the weather is perfect.
Priority is given to free flight and control line, with slow quiet RC models allowed.
The field layout is shown below. Please would all pilots (especially RC) follow the outdoor flying guidance on the Club Documents page on our website or click here.
FPV Pilots – use the pegboard to reserve your video frequency – see copy of pegboard here
Control Line flying rules are on the club documents page or click here.
If you are not sure about suitable RC models, please ask. This is a tricky field for RC with tall magnetic trees all round the field that cause turbulence even in relatively light winds!! For a video of the field click here
We normally park in the car park, but you can park on the field if required – enter by turning right after the houses on Park Drive. Do not drive on any marked pitches or we will get banned!! The gate may be locked – the code is 6769. Last one out to lock the gate. A map showing access for cars is here.

This is a chance to fly small FPV quads with fully enclosed props and small fixed wing planes like Vapors inside a church. Also welcome would be any Free Flight pilots with small slow models.
This is to set a record for the number of aircraft flying in a church. Flying starts from 1pm with an attempt at the record at 2pm.
It’s an interesting venue for FPV with numerous nooks and crannies and pilots may benefit from divine intervention………. or a long rescue pole!!
This is George Adams church and he has had permission from the powers that be. Parking is along Church St and Cottenham Rd and then entry into the church is down a short lane (St Andrews Park) from the North East where the road bends.
Flyers and spectators are welcome. We suggest that flyers might contribute £5 for the church funds.
We did a trial run with somewhat limited success – see the video here

This is the annual “open to all comers” national control line stunt competition for F2b aerobatics held in honour of the clubs founder Ray Malmstrom. Gates open at 9.30am and the competition starts around 10am
Please contact John Copsey for more information. jccathome@btinternet.com
Entry to the field as per map below
This event, now in it’s 12th year, attracts Control Line Precision Aerobatics competitors from all over the UK. The event is now an important component of the CLAPA* calendar of Control Line Stunt events. It is also advertised in the BMFA News, on the BMFA website and elsewhere.
* CLAPA stands for Control Line Aerobatic Pilots Association. CLAPA website here
Clubman Competition
Whilst the ‘Main Event’ will be a 3 round competition for F2B pilots, there will also be a ‘Clubman’ contest for aspiring CL Stunt pilots to get a taste of what it is all about. Any amount of help and encouragement will be available in a friendly, fun competition.
Clubman level is suitable for anyone who is capable of flying a CL model, and the competitor chooses what manoeuvres they wish to perform from the old Class ll schedule. The more stunts you can do, the greater your points score will be, so come on and start practicing.
There is no restriction on model type, power or undercarriage style. A combat model is perfectly acceptable although it may not get you the highest marks.
Note: If any club member wishes to get advice or information about flying in the Clubman event, please contact the Contest Director John Copsey.
