21/5 – World Record Attempt on 15th May

By | May 21, 2022

24 of us gathered in the Impington Sports Hall to fly indoor models for the record attempt last Sunday. A pilots briefing was held with 5 minutes to go and then we had various countdowns to the launch times.

RC flyers launched at 30 seconds to midday, FF rubber powered at 10 seconds to midday and a few paper aeroplanes with 1 second to go. As the clock struck 12, there were 34 models in the air. As far as I know this will put IVCMAC in the top 10 clubs and may even make us the highest scoring club. All will be revealed by the BMFA in due course.

Several of us managed to get 2 or even 3 models in the air including an amazing helicopter flight by Chris Godfrey who had bound 2 helis to one transmitter. He flew the more manoeuvrable one and let the more stable one take its chances – both were in the air at noon!!

Bruce Lindsay confidently laid plans to have 4 models flying but ran out of winding time and only managed to get 2 airborne.

Chris Constant did the video and Yuliya took the photographs so many thanks to both of them for their help.

More photos will follow, but a video is here
