Dear members and especially the indoor flyers
The committee would like your opinion on how we organise the indoor flying next winter.
Since January 2023, we have been flying in the big Sports Hall every Saturday over the winter from 1pm to 5pm on a 3 week cycle as shown below with an annual season ticket costing £30. Non flying members can come along to watch and socialise for free.
Week 1 – 4 hours FF
Week 2 – 4 hours RC
Week 3 – 2 hours RC followed by 2 hours FF
We will be booking the hall shortly and as the sports centres biggest customer we get half price for our block booking – this only applies if we do a block booking for the whole winter and the whole afternoon. Whilst the 4 hour sessions are generous, they do allow people to come and go in a relaxed manner and it would actually cost us more if we reduced the hours as the sports centre would jack up the prices!! We currently pay £26 per hour instead of £52.
An option that is often brought up is to scrap the mixed sessions and move to a 2 week cycle as shown below. This of course has its pros and cons. The £30 season ticket would continue and members would still get the same amount of flying for their £30.
Week 1 – 4 hours FF
Week 2 – 4 hours RC
If you are an indoor flyer, please reply to this e-mail if you have a preference for retaining the 3 week cycle or moving to a 2 week cycle – no reply would mean you are happy with either option!! The committee will make a decision and publish the results in a few weeks time so we can plan for next winters indoor flying.
