This message is for RC flyers on busy Friday evenings like our first session last week. Whilst the club ethos is on having fun, we do all need to be aware of the dangers posed by RC planes and drones when operating in a busy environment. Please ask for advice before you fly if you are at all unsure.
Please would all RC flyers follow the guidance on the club website and repeated with a link on every calendar entry. Specifically –
RC fixed wing – Pilots should always call “Launching”, “Landing”, “Retrieving” etc. They should only fly in front of themselves and not above or behind. Launch models away from other flyers. Keep everyone informed about your intentions.
Control Line area – Do not overfly the CL area at low level – keep above 100ft in this area.
FPV Pilots should use the pegboard to reserve their video frequency before switching on video transmitters.
We really want everyone to enjoy themselves without creating petty rules for the sake of it, but no one wants there to be an accident. I’m sure that if we stick to the basics outlined above we can continue to enjoy safe operations on the field, even at busy times. We can’t have a club policeman on duty all the time, so really need to rely on members good judgement.
